Long Overdue - ShivanSamundram

Travel Date : 15 Aug 2008

---------------------------
Shweta and I was thinking of planning a trip to some nearby place as it has been quite a time since we went somewhere. The last trip was in distant memory (the one to Mek-Datu/Sangam - Jan 2007 - Yati was still not around). We were planning to have a trip with our sweet little one .

Route
Bannerghatta Road --> Nice Road --> Mysore Road --> Bidadi --> Ramanagaram --> Maddur --> Take diversion from Mysore road to Talakad.

We decided to take a trip to another fall near by ShivanSamundram. I never drove any thing more than our new International Airport. Talked to Som and good to find that he too will be joining and we are all set after that.

The day started early, woke up at 6:30 am, did a little packing consdering the kids (Yati and Sanvi) are also travelling. We started at around 8:30 am on NICE Road. Took exit of Mysore road and cruised along. Reached to Kamath Lokaruchi (@around 60Km ) at aroung 9:30.
Took a pit stop to refuel ourselves. Had breakfast and then proceeded further.

Reached Maddur. After crossing Maddur, please look for a fork (Y). Right will go to Mysore and left will go towards Talakad and Shivan Samundran. Go straight on road, in 2009 the road was being built so was bad in patches. Finally it took around 3 hours to reach Shivan Samundram. The fall was full of water -(this being good monsoon). Boating was not operational.

Spend some 1 hour there and headed back. Sometime journey is more enjoyable than destination.

Why am I late

2011 -- Often wonder why even the smallest action of the sweetie pie brings so much pleasure to me. Yati has started saying --Papa is in meeting -- when ever she doesnot find me around. Seems she has started learning the art of self-explanation for the events.

One particular day the I left for office before she woke up and unfortunately the same day I was late in the evening also. When I met her other day she asked why we're you late , there is no meeting which runs all the time.

Arihant - Hats off to Indian Scientist

Arihant - Ari (Enemy) hant (kill, destroy ) - Arihant means "destroyer of enemies".
Felt delighted to learn about the launch of Arihant on July 26, 2009 to mark the 10th anniversary of Vijay Divas. I thought a moment and the intellectual inside me told why am I happy to hear about a weapon of mass destruction. But on thinking deep and rationally I remembered the famous line by none other than Ramdhari Singh 'Dinakar' - "Kshma shobhati us Bhujang ko jiske pass garal ho, usko kya jo dant-heen vish-heen vineet saral ho". Considering the kind of neighbours we have, a shameless failed state like Pakistan and non-human state like China with 10 such marines, its a need of the nation.
This being indigenously developed gives an immense sense of satisfaction and pride. When I think of sixth nation (after US, Russia, China(10), UK and France) in the league.
I dream of a day when I will hear something like India created its own league rather than joining a league of five.

Bravo!!!!!!

Little things

On Delhi Airport, at 8:30 PM, I came out of airport to look for a taxi. I appoached Prepaid taxi (EasyCab), I had to go to Noida sector 56. I took the receipt and moved for locating the taxi. Took some time to get the feel of airport and the known-ness of the taxi stand started my mind working. I realized,

They have converted old departure into taxi parking stand and I couldnot locate my fav Balaji Express. I used to love this place and spent numerous hours during numerous trip during 2006/07/08/09 with pals like Sanjay and Vijay. It use to be our meeting place, each time any one wants to meet me during my transit at Delhi. After seeing taxi stand there and taking sometime to understand the location, The first reaction was "Are ye kahan gaya". Suddenly a feeling of something missing came inside. The sight of me sitting there and seeing Sanjay/Vijay coming from other end became live again. Suddenly I hit the taxi standing there and I realized it has changed for good and for ever.
Things are destined to change!

Bangalore

While driving on the congested and over-crowded supposedly 4 lane Bannerghatta road, I always dream about using my car's accelerator. I think about the of the time I am loosing on account of the traffic. It creates/builds and holds the frustration which has got no outlet. Reaching office and coming back from office is as painful as it can be.
I happen to be in NCR during last week. As soon as I was coming out of flight at 8:00 PM I was reminded by HOT air about what Bangalore is. I went out and catched the taxi, the roads are wide but the traffic is moving at the same speed. All tall claim about the improved traffic condition is not that true as they appear in Bangalore. The CBD is jammed and traffic near Nehru Place reminded me of my Bannerghatta road. The jams across the flyover are so common sight.

I said to myself: What ever be the other places but no one can beat Bangalore weather and the calmness it brings to my life.
